This week City of Leeds welcomed Northern Ballet into school. The team of professional dancers and musicians worked with year 9 and 10 Performing Arts students and introduced them to the current production of Beauty and the Beast. Students were taught some of the dance routines as well as looking at the main characters and choreographing their own dance pieces. The workshop ended with a final performance accompanied by a live pianist. The students really enjoyed the experience and are now looking forward to the visit to see Beauty and the Beast at The Alhambra next week.

On Thursday 19th January students from the year 9 Performing Arts class visited the Northern Ballet. Students were able to see short pieces from famous Northern Ballet performances including, Beauty and the Beast, The Nutcracker and Madame Butterfly. They were then able to meet some of the dancers and the Artistic Director of Northern Ballet who introduced the pieces and explained the inspiration behind his work before answering questions from the students. The afternoon was inspiring and entertaining and will also be of great benefit to the students BTEC work.
A dancer from Northern Ballet will be coming into school at the end of this half term to lead a dance workshop with students from our year 9 and 10 Perfoming Arts classes, which we are very excited about!
